Residential Lease Agreement Requirements
Must include:
- Name of Landlord (property owner) and tenant(s)
- Contract dates: move in/out (example: 01/01/16- 12/31/16)
- Address being rented
- Two clauses are required:
- The tenant must have water and sewer through the District. Failure to have water and sewer is a public health issue, which would constitute a violation of the lease, and be grounds for eviction.
- Tenant may not sublet to anyone else and should list who is residing at the address.
- If a husband and wife are both on the lease, then both names should be listed on the customer account.
- Signatures are required of both landlord and tenants.
*If the lease is sent by fax, the landlord must fax his/her ID
ID Requirements
Any of the following are acceptable and must be valid:
- Driver's license or ID card issued by a State or outlying possession of the United States
- U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
- U.S. Department of Justice Permanent Resident Card
- Foreign Passport
- Matrícula Consular Card issued by the Mexican Government
